Peer review is a process in which independent experts in a specific field evaluate the quality of research to assess the validity, methodology, and originality of articles submitted for publication. It is a fundamental pillar of research publishing, ensuring that only the highest quality research is disseminated.

Mutual Anonymity: Both authors and reviewers remain strictly anonymous to each other throughout the evaluation lifecycle.

Minimum 2 External Reviewers: Each submission is evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter specialists.

Editorial Authority: Section Editors make recommendations, and the Editor-in-Chief serves as the final decision authority.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Reviewer Standards & Assessment Metrics

Peer reviewers assess manuscripts across five fundamental academic dimensions:

Methodological Rigor

Are the experimental design, sample size, control groups, and statistical protocols sound, reproducible, and appropriate for the hypothesis?

Originality & Novelty

Does the research make a meaningful, novel contribution to the field, and is the existing literature appropriately synthesized and cited?

Data Validity & Results

Do the experimental results clearly support the conclusions drawn, without over-extrapolation, unwarranted speculation, or selective reporting?

Ethical Compliance

Has the study obtained necessary institutional review board (IRB), animal welfare, or patient informed consent approvals where applicable?

Constructive Feedback

Reviews must provide detailed, objective, and constructive suggestions to assist authors in improving scientific clarity and presentation.

Timeliness & Promptness

Reviewers agree to provide reports within the agreed timeframe (typically 14-21 days) or promptly notify the editor of potential delays.

COPE ETHICS CODE

Reviewer Ethics & COPE Compliance

Peer reviewers are required to adhere to the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers. These guidelines provide a framework to ensure the integrity, fairness, and accountability of the peer review process.

Privileged Confidentiality: Submitted manuscripts are confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, cite, or discuss unpublished data with third parties.

Non-Appropriation Policy: Reviewers must not appropriate authors' ideas, methods, or unpublished data for their own research. Suspected violations are investigated under COPE flowcharts.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Potential reviewers must inform the Editor of any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts before accepting an invitation.

Editorial Board Submissions: Manuscripts submitted by members of the Editorial Board are managed by independent external editors to ensure impartial review.

Exceptions & Transparency

If an article's peer review process represents an exception to the journal's standard double-anonymized policy (such as commissioned reviews or symposium papers), the exact type of assessment received is publicly displayed on the published article.
